CEREMONIAL FERTILITY DOULA

Ancient wisdom across tradition teaches that before we engage in the intentional act of conception, we must prepare our bodies, minds, spirits, and lives to receive. This understanding is at the heart of fertility doula practice. Utilizing a combination of Ayurvedic approaches, practices in Afro-Indigenous wisdom, Spiritual Herbalism, and Kundalini Yoga, I will support you to prepare your vessel for carrying life. 
We will meet virtually or in-person 2x/a month for 3-6 months, and work on full-spectrum holistic health so that you can be in your optimum state during pregnancy.

CEREMONIAL POSTPARTUM DOULA

In birthwork, postpartum is considered “the 4th-trimester” crucial to the ongoing physical and spiritual vitality of parent, child, and family, and yet it is so often forgotten or mismanaged. Ancient wisdom traditions teach that there is a “sacred window” after birth during which time mothers and birthing folks need high levels of care in order to heal from and integrate the birth experience, establish solid bonds with the newborn, and honor the cave of transformation taking place as she shifts from maiden to mother; or as they shift from Jack to Royal. This can be a highly activated and emotional time, as such tremendous change has just taken place at physical, emotional, and spiritual levels while many new duties and tasks are also required. During this highly open and vulnereable time, new mothers and birthing folks must be particularly careful about how they expend their time and energy–what they eat, who they see, what they hear, in addition to what the newborn is exposed to as all are creating energetic imprints for years to come. Postpartum doulas are there to cultivate, enhance, and protect the sacred space as new mothers, birthing folks, and families transform to expand now that the baby is Earthside. My role is both practical and metaphysical. I offer space to process the birth experience, share the ancient teachings created to guide us in this postpartum time, support with herbal preparations to optimize well-being for parents and baby, cook fresh Ayurvedic meals, offer light cleaning, care for the newborn when main caregivers need rest, and most importantly, tend mentally, physically, and spiritually to the person who just gave birth. As guided by spirit, I will also offer ceremonial support that can include closing of the bones ceremony, Reiki, postpartum herbal baths, and work with the elements.

The elders say that what we experience in perimenopause and menopause are our body's way of reporting what has and has not been in balance throughout our lifetime of menstruation. The wise women say that during this time we are burning away that which no longer serves us so that we can be of greatest service to humanity. When we go through major transitions in life, they open up our energy, and put us in a vulnerable position.  We have the potential to get stuck in the past, or have trouble stepping fully into our new present.  Closing of the Bones is an ancestral tradition hailing from the Caribbean where I support you in closing up the energy of the past so that you can fully inhabit and embody your new present.  This is traditionally practiced after a birth, after a death, after an assault or traumatic event, after a graduation, after a miscarriage, after an abortion, after a divorce, or after any other major shift has taken place.  This practice assures that your soul travels with you wherever you go, and that you can invest fully in your present and future.

Losing a pregnancy can be one of the most painful experiences of your life.  In this ceremony, we make sure the spirit of the baby has safe passage back to the realm of the unborn, and that you create the space in your womb to heal and move forward.  You will have the chance to speak your truth, grieve, and do whatever it is that your soul is calling for to find acceptance and peace.  You will be infused with love, care, mothering, and the spirit of the divine feminine to guide you on your path to whatever feels right as you lay the past to rest and dream into your future.

We often hear of baby showers, but I am called to offer Blessing Ways, to bless the way of the mother, parent, and family welcoming the new life.
